About FUELCELLSETC
What are fuel cells and electrolyzers?
This has to be one of our most frequently asked questions. No need to worry. FuelCellsEtc is here to clarify!
Fuel cells and electrolyzers are electrochemical cells that are often used in conjunction to store and reproduce electricity. Fuel cells consume a fuel and oxidant to generate electricity. Electrolyzers, on the other hand, consume electricity and water to split the water into its hydrogen and oxygen components.Fuel cells are different than batteries. Since batteries carry their reactive material in the electrodes and are hermetically sealed. There is no fuel or oxidant that needs to be brought into the battery. Fuel cells, on the other hand, are very dynamic and have the fuel stored outside of the fuel cell stack. The fuel and oxidant are then transferred to the stack continually while the stack is generating power. This means that the amount of energy that can be delivered by the fuel cell is only limited by the amount of fuel stored externally, while a battery can only deliver as much energy as the fuel contained within it.
Whether your needs are in the standard fuel cell and electrolyzer or some other niche application, you will find our expertise and knowledge at your service.
