Nickel and nickel-alloy catalysts for alkaline electrolysis, fuel-cell research, alcohol oxidation, and hydrogenation.
XT nickel catalysts include carbon-supported nickel and, where listed, platinum–nickel and palladium–nickel. Each powder is for a different reaction.
Nickel on carbon is used for the hydrogen evolution reaction in alkaline and anion-exchange-membrane electrolyzers. It is also used for urea oxidation, alkaline electrode work, hydrogenation, and CO₂ methanation studies. The carbon support disperses the nickel for ink formulation and electrode development. These powders are not nickel-foam electrodes, and they are not PEM electrolyzer anodes.
Platinum–nickel is used for the oxygen reduction reaction, including PEM fuel-cell cathode research. Palladium–nickel is used for alkaline oxygen reduction and for alcohol oxidation, including ethanol.
The powders can also be coated into gas diffusion electrodes.
