Fuel Cell and Electrolyzer Component Manufacturer

Fuel Cells Etc manufactures electrochemical materials and components for OEMs, researchers, and educators in Bryan, Texas.

The range runs from catalysts, membranes, and gas diffusion layers to gas diffusion electrodes, catalyst-coated membranes, and membrane electrode assemblies. The catalog includes more than 100 catalysts, 130 gas diffusion layers, and 140 membranes. For a non-standard build, active area, membrane, catalyst, loading, and layer count are set to the application. No minimum on custom components.

Design and manufacturing

  • Catalyst powders, including precious-metal, non-precious, oxide, alloy, and carbon-supported grades
  • Membranes and ionomers, including non-standard chemistry, thickness, size, and die-cut shape
  • Gas diffusion layers and catalyst-coated gas diffusion electrodes
  • Single-sided and double-sided catalyst-coated membranes
  • 3-layer, 5-layer, and 7-layer membrane electrode assemblies with custom gasketing
  • Bipolar plates, single-cell hardware, and stack assembly
  • Single-cell and stack testing

The membrane, catalyst, gas diffusion layer, and electrode are made for the same reaction, not pulled from a distributor’s shelf.

Applications

PEM and high-temperature PEM fuel cells, hydrogen-air and hydrogen-oxygen cells, direct methanol and direct ethanol fuel cells, PEM and anion-exchange-membrane electrolyzers, alkaline water electrolysis, unitized regenerative fuel cells, and CO₂ electrolysis. Selected materials are also used for electrochemical sensors, hydrogen pumps, and electrosynthesis.
