Layer count

A 3-layer part is a catalyst-coated membrane: catalyst on both sides, no gas diffusion layers. A 5-layer part adds a gas diffusion layer on each side. The catalyst can sit on the membrane or on the gas diffusion layers. A 7-layer part is the 5-layer assembly with gaskets, ready for the test cell.

Applications

PEM and high-temperature PEM fuel cells, hydrogen-air and hydrogen-oxygen cells, and direct alcohol fuel cells. PEM and anion-exchange-membrane electrolyzers, unitized regenerative fuel cells, and CO₂ electrolysis. On a CO₂ cell, silver is the cathode for carbon monoxide and copper is the cathode for carbon products. The anode is selected separately.
